Abstract

This article discusses a paradox that runs through the speeches of public actors who claim that abortion is a crime that law must punish - some propose to redefine it as a crime against persons and, in doing so, impose even more severe penalties, and that it is an attack against life that begins at conception; however, they also argue that women who violate this punishing law should not go to jail. In the public speeches, this law does not seem geared to compliance. Why is this so? This article is an inquiry about this question.
