Abstract

Despite the growing literature on South-South relations, the field of relations between Latin America and the Caribbean is a considerably under-studied subject. In this paper, the need to carry out a detailed examination of the existing empirical evidence on three key areas in the relations between both regions - trade, investment and technical and financial assistance - and the degree of complementarity that exists in the matter is postulated, in order to then proceed to specify the strategies and mechanisms necessary to promote cooperation between Latin America and the Caribbean that make it possible for both to enter the 21st century through the same wide door of collaboration.
